瑞士宝盛银行分析师托马斯·沃茨在一份报告中表示，英国最新经济增长数据反映了过去两年来英国经济的真实写照——“有增长，但来之不易，而且增长分布并不均衡”。他表示，英国5月国内生产总值(GDP)环比增长0.1%，但这一数据在一定程度上具有“美化”效果。沃茨指出，服务业是推动经济增长的唯一主要动力，5月增长0.3%；与此同时，工业生产和建筑业均出现萎缩。他表示，这再次提醒市场，尽管英国经济仍在缓慢前行，但企业信心依然脆弱。不过，相较于单月数据，经济整体增长趋势更为积极。截至5月的三个月，英国GDP增长0.7%。沃茨补充称，即将接替里夫斯出任英国财政大臣(目前外界普遍预计为沙巴娜·马哈茂德)的人选，应当谨慎把握这一来之不易的增长优势。
