印度电子与信息技术部长周三宣布，印度承诺追加1.28万亿卢比(约133亿美元)资金以提振本土芯片制造业，推进其成为全球制造中心的宏伟目标。该计划将在印度此前于2021年推出的100亿美元激励项目基础上进一步推进。该项目曾承诺承担半导体项目建设成本的一半。此前的努力帮助印度开启芯片产业发展进程，吸引了美国存储芯片制造商美光科技、以及业务涵盖从制盐到软件等多个领域的塔塔集团等企业进入西部的古吉拉特邦。印度总理莫迪正努力加强印度芯片产业布局。目前该计划仍处于早期阶段，仅有少数大型项目正在推进。印度希望利用其工程与设计人才优势以及各类补贴政策，吸引大型芯片制造商进驻。
