SpaceX's (SPCX) June initial public offering has prompted Commonwealth Bank of Australia's brokerage unit, CommSec, to pursue more US IPO mandates after record demand from Australian retail investors, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Managing Director James Fowle said CommSec received more than 28,000 applications for the SpaceX IPO, four times the bids for the largest Australian IPO the brokerage had previously marketed, according to the report.

Australian investors are seeking greater exposure to US tech companies, prompting CommSec to expand access to international listings, Fowle added, the report said.

SpaceX and Commonwealth Bank of Australia did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
