受中东紧张局势升温，油价急升，推高美国加息预期所影响，导致金价下跌。隔晚国际金价走低，纽约8月份期金每盎司收报4005.7美元，跌幅2.6%。
特朗普在7月13日发表的一系列声明中，多次重申美国将主导霍尔木兹海峡管理权。他表示，若由美国负责管控该海峡，美国将获得相应补偿，并将扮演"守护者"角色。
