EQT shares climbed after the Swedish buyout group reported first-half earnings that beat analysts' expectations and raised guidance for its fundraising cycle.

Shares in EQT were up 12% in European morning trading Friday, recouping some of their losses earlier in the year as private-equity concerns gripped the market to leave the stock down 12% in 2026 to date.

EQT said adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization for the first half were 837 million euros ($957.9 million), up from 806 million euros for the same period last year.

Analysts polled by Visible Alpha had forecast the metric at 771.5 million euros.

EQT's better-than-expected earnings were driven by an increase in income from carried interest and the performance of its investments, analysts at Jefferies said in a note to clients.

All key funds continue to perform on or above plan, and the company enters the second half with strong fundraising momentum and an attractive pipeline of new investments, EQT Chief Executive and Managing Partner Per Franzen said.

The investor said it now expects to top 140 billion euros in its current fundraising cycle, citing new strategies such as AI Infrastructure and the European Union's Scaleup Europe Fund, for which EQT was picked as manager.

At the beginning of the year, EQT raised its fundraising guidance to between 125 billion and 130 billion euros from 100 billion euros initially due to its proposed acquisition of private-equity group Coller Capital for up to $3.7 billion. The deal is due to close in the third quarter, EQT said.

In the first half, EQT attracted 17.8 billion euros in gross inflows, it said.
