Jersey Mike's Targeted $8 Billion Valuation Dwarfs Other Restaurant Offerings

Jersey Mike's is pricing its shares similar to other recent restaurant IPOs, but envisions a lot more value for the sub sandwich company.

The New Jersey-based chain said in a filing today that it aimed to offer around 43.5 million shares at a price of between $21 and $25. At the top listing price, Jersey Mike's would have a valuation of around $8 billion.

Buzzy Mediterranean chain Cava gave a share range of $19 to $20 per share when it filed to go public in 2023, putting its valuation at around $2.2 billion at the top end. Sweetgreen in 2021 put its range at $23 to $25, with a valuation at more than $2 billion.

Jersey Mike's, which aims to trade on the NYSE under the symbol SMKE, has grown rapidly, with around $4.3 billion in sales across its 3,300 locations. The company believes it can expand to 15,000 restaurants.

Private-equity firm Blackstone acquired the majority of Jersey Mike's last year for about $8 billion.
