据知情人士透露，港交所正研究延长股票交易时段，以进一步与全球主要市场接轨。其中一项方案包括将股票交易提前至上午9:00开市，并取消中午一小时午休；同时还考虑增设晚上8:00至午夜12:00的夜盘，以衔接美股早盘，但下午4:00收市时间预计维持不变。
知情人士称，夜盘初期或仅涵盖少数大型活跃股票，尤其是拥有美国存托凭证（ADR）的公司，以提升相关股票成交。同时，南向港股通是否同步延长交易时间仍在讨论。目前，南向港股通贡献约23%的港股成交额。
不过，市场对夜盘反应不一。部分业内人士认为，由于香港交易成本较高，投资者仍可能更倾向通过美股期权进行风险对冲，夜盘成交未必理想。
港交所回应称，优化交易时段仍处于非常早期的探索阶段，未来任何调整均需综合评估市场影响、征询持份者意见，并协调互联互通等安排。香港证监会表示，已与港交所展开初步讨论，评估延长交易时间可能带来的影响。
