Rolls-Royce Holdings expects to provide four of its Trent 1000 XE engines to Somon Air for two of the airline's jets under a memorandum of understanding.

The company said Tuesday the engines will be for Somon Air's two new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

The engines have several upgrades, including a re-engineered high-pressure turbine blade that increases cooling air flow, Rolls-Royce said. The memorandum of understanding follows an order for six of the engines for Latam Airlines in April, the company said.

Rolls-Royce is "delighted to welcome a further vote of confidence from the market in the Trent 1000 XE, which, enabled by our ongoing transformation, has enhancements that offer up to triple time on wing, reduced maintenance and greater certainty in fleet planning," Chief Customer Officer Ewen McDonald said.

Rolls-Royce said it has been investing in its maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities lately, adding dedicated Trent 1000 XE facilities in the U.K., Singapore and Germany. The company said it has broadly committed 1 billion British pounds (about $1.34 billion) to develop and improve the Trent engine family.

Rolls-Royce shares rose 1.1% to GBP13.73 in London.
