Hasbro stock is one of the biggest gainers in the S&P 500 after the toy company posted strong results for its "Magic: The Gathering" card game and raised its outlook for the year.

CEO Chris Cocks boasted that Magic is "off to a ripping start" this year, with sales up 34% in the first half.

Cocks said a new series of Magic cards based on Marvel superheroes set a record for first-day and first-month sales of the game.

"Magic is not a niche hobby business," Cocks said. "It is a mega franchise."
