印度计划到2033年建成至少五座小型模块化反应堆，旨在扩大核能应用、降低煤炭依赖。

　　印度原子能部长吉滕德拉・辛格周三向议员透露，相关小型反应堆正在研发三款不同设计方案。总部位于孟买的巴巴原子研究中心正在研发装机容量220兆瓦与55兆瓦的发电反应堆。

　　辛格在印度联邦院书面答复中表示，这座以印度核领域先驱霍米・杰汉吉尔・巴巴命名的研究中心，同时在研发一款装机容量不足5兆瓦的气冷反应堆，用作制氢热源。

　　印度已投入逾20亿美元研发小型模块化反应堆，该技术被视作难以减排行业实现脱碳的途径。
