Japan's manufacturing activity marginally contracted in July, according to preliminary data from S&P Global published Friday.
The seasonally adjusted S&P Global Flash Japan Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index fell to 54.7, compared with 54.8 from the previous month.
The slowdown came despite manufacturing output growing to 56.1 from 54.3 the previous month.
