该公司表示，由于该药物在缓解瘙痒或改善皮肤病变方面与安慰剂相比未显示出显著改善，因此将终止该项研究。
这对Celldex而言是一次挫折，因为巴佐沃利马布是该公司的主力候选药物。
该公司表示，该药总体耐受性良好，安全性特征与先前研究一致。
近年来，随着赛诺菲（Sanofi）的重磅药物达必妥（SASY.PA，商品名Dupixent）和加尔德玛（Galderma）的奈莫利珠单抗（GALD.S，商品名Nemluvio）等靶向药物的获批，结节性瘙痒症的治疗格局已有所改善。此前，患者长期依赖类固醇、免疫抑制剂及其他疗法，但这些疗法往往只能提供有限的缓解。
巴佐沃利马布显著减少了肥大细胞的数量——这种免疫细胞参与过敏反应和炎症过程——但患者的症状并未得到改善。Celldex表示，这表明肥大细胞可能并非结节性瘙痒症的主要驱动因素。
