路透7月30日 - 美国商务部周四表示，已签署意向书，将向七家致力于开发人工智能和先进计算系统半导体技术的公司提供8.74亿美元的激励资金。
这笔资金将根据《芯片与科学法案》发放，是美国为加强国内半导体生产、减少对外国供应商依赖而采取的更广泛举措的一部分。
具体情况如下：
格罗方德（GlobalFoundries， GFS.O）将获得最高3亿美元的资金，用于开发“共封装光学器件”（co-packaged optics），该技术将基于光的数据传输与人工智能处理器相结合，以实现更快的计算速度。
Kepler公司获拨款最高2.45亿美元，用于研发新型人工智能内存技术；而Multibeam公司将获得最高1.4亿美元，用于开发先进的芯片封装设备。
Extropic、Thintronics、OBSIDIA Semiconductors和Aeluma将获得3,000万至7,500万美元不等的资金，用于从低功耗计算技术、先进芯片材料到假冒组件检测系统等各类项目。
美国商务部补充称，作为资助协议的一部分，该部将持有每家公司的少数股权，具体安排需待最终拨款前的进一步审查。
