Fannie Mae 2Q Profit Climbs from Higher Revenue in Both Divisions

Fannie Mae recorded a higher profit in the second quarter with revenue growth in both its single-family and multifamily divisions.

The government-backed mortgage provider on Wednesday posted a profit of $3.98 billion, or 3 cents a share, in the quarter ended June 30, up from $3.32 billion, or breakeven on a per-share basis, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 4% to $7.57 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $7.25 billion.

Fannie Mae's single-family division saw revenue increase 4%, while its multifamily unit had an 7% bump in sales.

The delinquency rate for single-family mortgages was unchanged from the prior quarter at 0.58%, but up from 0.53% a year earlier, while the multifamily delinquency rate ticked down to 0.6% from 0.78% the quarter before but was roughly flat year-over-year.
