Nissan Motor Expected to Report Narrower First-Quarter Net Loss

Nissan Motor is scheduled to report first-quarter results on Monday. Here's what you need to know:

 

NET LOSS FORECAST: Nissan Motor's net loss is expected to have narrowed to 3.65 billion yen, equivalent to $22.9 million, for the three months ended June, according to a poll of analysts by Quick. Nissan reported a net loss of Y115.76 billion in the year-earlier period.

 

REVENUE FORECAST: Revenue is estimated to have risen 11% to Y3.002 trillion, according to the Quick poll.

 

The stock has fallen 14% year to date, weighed down by sales weakness, following a 19% drop in 2025.

 

WHAT TO WATCH:

--For the fiscal year ending March 2027, Nissan has projected a 4.7% increase in global sales to 3.30 million units, an 8.3% rise in revenue to Y13.000 trillion and net profit of Y20.00 billion, compared with a net loss in the previous year. Investors will be focusing on any changes to the annual guidance management may make as well as any impact on its operations from the Middle East conflict.

--The carmaker has taken several restructuring measures to cut costs and address falling sales. Nissan said in April that it would streamline its global product portfolio to 45 models from 56, and discontinue underperforming models. The company in January agreed to sell its South African plants to Chinese carmaker Chery Automobile. Investors will be closely watching for any updates on restructuring efforts.

--U.S. tariffs weighed on the company's operating profit by Y286 billion for the year ended March. Investors will be paying attention to any measures the company is taking to mitigate this impact.
