澳大利亚第二季度核心通胀率低于预期，缓解了该国央行下月加息的压力，并给继续评估经济前景留出空间。
澳大利亚统计局周三公布的数据显示，剔除价格波动较大项目的截尾平均CPI同比上涨3.6%，低于经济学家预估中值3.7%；环比上涨0.8%，也低于0.9%的预期。澳大利亚央行希望通胀率回到2%-3%目标区间的中点，但这一核心通胀指标已持续四年多高于该水平。
为遏制卷土重来的通胀压力，澳大利亚央行在今年前三次会议上均加息。最新CPI数据显示，尽管通胀压力仍然偏高，但央行在两周后的议息会议上可能无需恢复加息。澳元以及对利率政策较敏感的澳大利亚三年期国债收益率应声走低。
澳大利亚央行在6月会议上维持现金利率在4.35%不变，以评估此前收紧政策的影响。CPI数据公布前，互换市场定价显示8月加息概率约为25%，年底前加息的概率仍超过90%。
