路透伦敦7月30日 - 全球1,800万亿美元的金融资产负债表所体现的巨额财富,或许印证了全球经济的蓬勃生机。但去年家庭净资产迅速膨胀至约570万亿美元,这一现象在很大程度上是由纸面股权价值推动的,而逐渐脱离了有形资产价值和基础经济表现。

这使得这份“健康报告”看起来要脆弱得多。

管理咨询公司麦肯锡(McKinsey & Company) (link) 的年度数据分析试图通过资产负债表的视角来捕捉全球金融全貌,估算全球范围内相互关联的资产、负债和财富的规模。

尽管各国情况差异显著,但总体趋势显然是:家庭净财富的增长速度超过了全球GDP增速。

去年,在所有主要经济体中,股票都是这一增长的主要驱动力。人工智能热潮推动全球股市去年上涨了20%即便面临美国贸易动荡的巨大冲击,且实际GDP增长仍徘徊在长期平均水平附近。

麦肯锡报告称,去年全球家庭财富增长了7.3%,远高于2000年以来的年均5.9%。其中约57%的增长来自股票,仅有15%由房地产驱动——这与过去25年财富增长驱动因素的平均构成形成了鲜明对比,在那段时期,房地产曾贡献了超过一半的财富增长。

从整体情况来看,房地产目前约占全球家庭净财富的一半。股票和投资基金约占四分之一,债券和养老金占20%,现金存款占20%。贷款约占15%,从总财富中扣除。在美国,股票所占比例略高,接近三分之一

如果不是认为股市严重失衡且即将崩盘,那么这一切看起来都还不错。

这也正是该报告作者们最担忧之处:他们忧心股市与全球实体经济之间“日益加剧的脱节”,以及股市急剧回调的风险和资产持有不平等现象的加剧。

例如,去年美国股市市值飙升至企业净资产的2.4倍,而利润占美国GDP的比重现已达到2000年水平的两倍。

在去年家庭财富增加的40万亿美元中,账面收益占据了绝大部分。其中仅有20%源于新增净投资——即对包括机械设备、住宅和建筑、基础设施以及知识产权在内的实物资产的投资(扣除折旧后)——而2000年至2024年间的平均比例为30%。现有资产的估值增速比本已居高不下的通胀率高4个百分点。

麦肯锡表示:“当资产负债表的扩张速度超过基础经济时,脆弱性便会暴露出来。当房地产和股票价值上涨速度超过GDP时,资本可能会过度流向资产回购,有时还会伴随大量杠杆。这可能会推高估值,却使经济丧失了能够带来长期增长的那类投资。”

“对家庭而言,财富虽有所增长,但仅停留在账面层面,且最终出现调整的风险加剧。资产价值的增长往往还会加剧财富不平等:既有财富持有者获利丰厚,而其他人——例如试图购房的年轻家庭——进入资产市场的难度却越来越大。”

重新连接

这些问题虽已有充分记录,却直指当下最关键的问题:近年来由人工智能驱动的股市飙升和资本支出狂潮,能否通过长期的实际回报和生产率提升得到合理证明?

随着主要AI“超大规模企业”本周陆续公布财报,这一问题引发的焦虑比往常更为强烈。

如果对这些股票估值是否合理存在哪怕一丝合理的怀疑,其回调都可能产生广泛的影响。

从某种程度上说,股票问题非常集中于美国——在麦肯锡样本涵盖的所有国家中,美国持有的股票占比近一半。去年,美国股票市值已攀升至净资产的2.4倍,而大多数其他国家的这一数字则徘徊在1.0左右。

但美国股市的回调也将波及全球家庭。超过三分之一的美国股票负债是欠外国实体的,这一点从美国国际投资头寸净额的巨额赤字中可见一斑。

那么这份报告的结论是什么?它重申了三个主要情景:要么我们迎来人工智能拥趸们所预言的生产率奇迹;要么持续高企的通胀最终侵蚀实际资产价值和债务,使资产负债表与名义GDP重新挂钩;第三种可能是痛苦的调整,储户和基础经济将经历漫长的“宿醉”期。
