Tabcorp Holdings (ASX:TAH) and Sportsbet allegedly enticed high-spending gamblers with drugs, escorts, and thousands of dollars per week to keep them betting, the Australian Financial Review reported Monday, citing comments delivered at a Senate inquiry into the Australian government's proposed gambling reform.

At the inquiry, Alliance for Gambling Reform boss Tim Costello said account managers at big betting firms had a practice of discovering and exploiting gamblers' vulnerabilities, and explicitly alleged that Tabcorp was among gambling operators who offered drugs and escorts, according to the report.

Tabcorp did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
