Warner Bros. Studio Business is All Misses, no Hits, in 2Q

Dow Jones

1145 ET - Warner Bros. Discovery's movie studio brought in $2.33 billion in revenue during the latest quarter, down 39% from a year ago. "There's no question that media is, by nature, a business full of hits and misses," CEO David Zaslav says, "and you see that reflected in our Studios results." Warner Bros. benefited from a string of box-office hits in last year's second quarter, such as "A Minecraft Movie" and "Sinners." This year's second quarter, however, was full of misses, with movies such as "Supergirl" and "The Bride!" failing to connect with audiences.
