Top Education Group (HKG:1752) is investigating a potential data security incident after a threat actor allegedly claimed to possess records relating to students enrolled in the group's education programs, according to a Thursday Hong Kong bourse filing.

The company said it launched an investigation after becoming aware of a news report alleging that the records were being offered for sale or access on an underground forum.

Top Education said it has notified the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency and the Australian Cyber Security Centre, and is assessing the nature and extent of any unauthorized access or data leakage.

The company said the incident has not caused any material disruption to its operations based on the information currently available.
