Global e-commerce and auction site eBay reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and revenue, and raised its third-quarter forecast on Wednesday afternoon.
For the second quarter ended June 30, eBay reported adjusted earnings of $1.60 a share on revenue of $3.1 billion, up 15%.
Wall Street was estimating adjusted earnings of $1.50 a share on sales of $3.02 billion, according to FactSet.
For the current third quarter ending in Sept. 30, eBay estimates adjusted earnings of $1.36 to $1.42 a share on revenue of $3.07 billion to $3.12 billion.
Analysts expected adjusted earnings of $1.45 a share on sales of $2.996 billion.
Shares were up 0.8% on Wednesday afternoon, after closing up 1.4% at $111.15 in regular trading. eBay shares are up 27.6% this year through Wednesday's close, and up 20% over the past 12 months.
