While Tan historically avoided memory because it was a low-margin commodity business, he said in a podcast with TechSurge that limited innovation in the sector has created fresh opportunities. Tan described new memory architectures as one of his "pet projects" and pointed to tighter CPU-memory integration as a key area of focus. Intel's recent hire of SK Hynix veteran Seok-Hee Lee may offer clues, Tan suggested, though the company is not yet ready to reveal its plans.
