KT (KRX:030200) plans to accelerate the liquidation of non-core assets, currently valued at 12.3 trillion won as of the second quarter, while executing 750 billion won in share buybacks and cancellations over the 2026-2028 period to boost return on equity (ROE), according to a bourse filing on Wednesday.
The company has reaffirmed its consolidated ROE target of 9% to 10% by 2028, alongside a multi-pronged strategy centered on AI Transformation (AX)-driven growth, profitability improvement, and capital efficiency, as part of its 2026 Corporate Value Enhancement Plan.
KT aims to more than double AX revenue by 2028 compared to 2025 through infrastructure expansion in AIDC and submarine cables, while targeting a consolidated operating profit margin of 9% or higher via business rationalization and AX-based cost reductions.
The company qualifies as a high-dividend firm under tax law, having paid 580.95 billion won in dividends for 2025, up 18% from the prior year, with a payout ratio of 34%, though all forward-looking plans remain subject to changes in market and business conditions.
