RTX subsidiary Collins Aerospace has been awarded a contract worth up to $472 million to support the modernization of the U.S. Army's Chinook helicopter fleet.
Collins said Tuesday that it is under contract to provide engineering services that will address obsolescence and strengthen the Boeing CH-47 Chinook fleet's avionics architecture.
"Collins equips the Chinook with advanced avionics that integrates communication, navigation and mission subsystems into a flexible, interoperable cockpit built for today's operational demands," said Jenny Miller, vice president and general manager of the company's Vision and Sensing Systems division.
Work related to the contract will be performed in Huntsville, Ala., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the company said.
Last month, RTX raised its full-year guidance thanks to robust demand from its defense and aerospace segments, which have been boosted by global spending tied to conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
