新华社香港8月11日电（黄茜恬）香港特区政府运输署11日公布，已根据《道路交通（自动驾驶车辆）规例》，批准往来高铁香港西九龙站与机场快线九龙站的自动驾驶车辆（自动车）测试项目。
据介绍，项目涉及4辆以自动驾驶操作的私家车。测试期间，车上会长驻后备操作员，在有需要时可以接管车辆操控。
特区政府运输署发言人表示，政府一直通过政策支持、法规配合和财政资助三方面多管齐下，积极而有序地推动自动车发展。此项目可展示自动车技术在高人流及复杂交通动态环境下的安全性、稳定性及运作可行性。
发言人说，自动车日后常态营运后，将为高铁香港西九龙站与机场快线九龙站建构无缝及自动驾驶的接驳，为旅客提供一个便捷选择，进一步提升出行体验，吸引更多旅客使用高铁及香港国际机场出行。
2024年11月，“萝卜快跑”获特区政府运输署批出的香港首个自动驾驶车辆先导牌照，获准10辆自动车在北大屿山进行测试。
