Coal India (BOM:533278, NSE:COALINDIA) is looking into the acquisition of Canadian Wealth Minerals' subsidiary Kuska Minerals, Reuters reported Tuesday citing two people with knowledge of the matter.

The move reportedly comes for the miner to obtain access to lithium resources, as Kuska Minerals has lithium mining assets in Chile.

The two parties have reportedly applied to the Canadian authorities for a lithium extraction license, according to the report.

Coal India and Wealth Minerals did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for a comment.
