据消息人士透露，HD现代集团会长郑基善计划于周五在首尔会见美国核能企业泰拉能源创始人兼董事长比尔・盖茨，双方将讨论深化小型模块化反应堆（SMR）领域合作的相关方案。
这是他们七个月来首次会面，此前两人曾在瑞士达沃斯世界经济论坛期间有过一次会晤。
此次会面正值韩国领先的造船集团HD现代与专注于先进核能技术的TerraPower在SMR领域不断拓展合作之际。
该集团旗下造船控股子公司 —— HD韩国船舶海洋工程有限公司，已于 2022 年向泰拉能源投资 3000 万美元。
此后，HD现代集团参与承建泰拉能源位于美国怀俄明州、装机容量 345 兆瓦的钠冷快堆 “钠能” 项目反应堆配套设备。
2025年3月，郑基善与比尔・盖茨签署谅解备忘录，携手推进钠能反应堆商业化落地；时隔五个月二人再度会晤，商议进一步扩大核能领域合作的举措。
今年5月，两家企业签署《钠能反应堆供应框架协议》。根据协议，HD现代成为钠能反应堆围护系统（RES）零部件的优先制造合作商。
