JD.com stock was slipping on Thursday despite revenue and earnings from the Chinese online retail giant that were ahead of analysts' expectations.
The American depositary receipts (ADRs) for JD.com, essentially its US-listed stock, fell 2.5% in premarket trading on Thursday following the results.
JD.com reported non-GAAP net income of RMB 8.9 billion ($1.3 billion) on revenue of RMB 346.4 billion ($51.1 billion) in the second quarter.
Both results beat estimates. Analysts polled by FactSet had been eyeing income of RMB 7.8 billion on revenue just shy of RMB 340 billion.
The company will be celebrating after an annual midyear shopping event that ran for more days in 2026 than in the year prior, helping sales.
China's roller coaster of a tech sector has had a bumpy year but JD.com stock remains up 7% since the start of 2026. It and peers have had a great run in recent weeks, with the shares up more than 20% since late June.
