Healthcare Cyberattacks Continue
Amgen has begun to notify patients about the breach of their personal and health data during a July 2 cyberattack that affected the company's own systems and those of a third-party cloud provider.
Genetic testing lab Baylor Genetics disclosed a cyber incident where a hacker had access to certain internal systems between June 11 and June 17. The Houston company said it noticed the intrusion June 15. An unspecified number of patients had their medical testing and lab results compromised while current and former employees had their Social Security numbers and financial account data exposed, Baylor said.
Baylor said it improved security after the attack, including putting in enhanced monitoring and stronger identity and access management.

Typical ransom demanded by the BlackFile hacking group, which has hit several private-equity firms and other financial companies in recent weeks. The payment has often been negotiated to less than $1 million, according to Google's threat-intelligence group, which has been tracking the incidents. (CyberScoop)
World Liberty Financial, the crypto project backed by the Trump family, is working with a Hong Kong-based entity that is using AI models built by Chinese companies the Trump administration has called out over national-security concerns. (Reuters)
