美国卫生部门目前正在调查一起涉及多个州的沙门氏菌（javiana型）感染疫情，据CDC报告，截至8月19日，累计确诊431例，其中57例住院治疗，无死亡病例。
据美国疾控中心称，病例出现时间介于6月19日至8月2日之间。
沙门氏菌是一类杆状细菌，可引发沙门氏菌病，这是一种常见的食源性疾病。症状通常包括腹泻、发热和腹部绞痛。
此次疫情已被追溯至由Coast Citrus Distributors公司分销的、产自墨西哥锡那罗亚州的哈拉佩尼奥辣椒 (link)。
CDC表示，91%的受访者报告称在发病前曾在墨西哥风味餐厅就餐，包括Chipotle Mexican Grill CMG.N 和QDOBA。
Chipotle已更换了墨西哥辣椒供应商，而QDOBA餐厅则停止使用该食材。
此次沙门氏菌疫情爆发的同时，美国卫生官员还在调查一起涉及多州的环孢子虫病疫情 (link)，该疫情与大型食品服务生产商泰勒农场（Taylor Farms） (link) 供应的生菜有关。
美国疾控中心估计，沙门氏菌每年在美国导致超过100万例食源性疾病。
