Exchange-Traded Funds Fall, US Equities Mixed After Midday

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV edged lower. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 0.1%.

US equity indexes traded mixed, as speculation about Anthropic's Q2 sales propped up technology and President Donald Trump warned Oman of attacks on the day a deadline to reach a permanent peace deal with Iran expired.

Energy

IShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each rose about 0.6%.

Technology

The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 0.6%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also advanced.

The State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) added 2.3%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) was up 2.5%.

Financial

The State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) eased 0.4%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) declined 1.4%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), advanced 1.2%.

Commodities

Crude oil rose 0.5%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) added 1.2%. Natural gas shed 1.6%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 1.2%.

Gold on Comex added 1%, and the State Street SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was up 1.1%. Silver gained 2.1%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was up 2.5%.

Consumer

The State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) was down 1.4%. The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) fell 1.1%, and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) eased 1.4%.

The State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was down 1.1%. VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) fell 0.8%, and the State Street SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) shed 1.3%.

Healthcare

The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) added 0.1%. iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) edged higher as well. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 1.8%.

Industrial

The State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) added 0.5%. Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were also slightly higher.

Cryptocurrency

In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) advanced 1.8%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) added 1.8%, ProShares Ether ETF (EETH) was up 1.7%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) was up 1.3%.
