路透8月20日 - 美光科技（MU.O）周四表示，计划在未来十年内向其位于爱达荷州博伊西市的新建研发实验室投入100亿美元，以推动存储技术进步、开发计算系统并支持未来的芯片制造。
美光、三星电子 005930.KS 和SK海力士 000660.KS 等大型内存芯片制造商，一直受益于人工智能基础设施快速扩张带来的需求激增。

美光表示，美光研究实验室将汇聚客户、学术界、政府以及更广泛的半导体生态系统，共同追求技术突破。
此次最新投资是在美光此前已单独承诺在美国各地投入超过2500亿美元 (link) 用于制造和研发的基础上进行的。
该实验室将与美光遍布美国、欧洲、日本、印度、新加坡和台湾的研究与技术网络相连接。
人工智能工作负载的日益普及和基础设施的扩建，推动了对高带宽内存的需求。这种内存能够快速向人工智能加速器传输数据，使其成为现代计算基础设施的关键组件。
特朗普政府已将国内芯片制造列为优先事项，旨在减少对外依赖、提振经济产出，并保持在人工智能竞赛中的领先地位。
美光预计该设施将于2027年破土动工，届时将可容纳数百名研究人员，并能举办国际会议和研讨会。
