Super Retail Shares Surge on Better-than-Feared Trading

0449 GMT - Super Retail's 16% share-price jump to A$14.52 reflects relief that trading didn't parallel the weak results of retailers such as JB Hi-Fi and Temple & Webster. Super Retail said same-store sales are up 1.5% in FY27 so far. That means it's outpacing market expectations for 1H growth of 0.75%, Jarden says. Supercheap Auto's like-for-like sales stood out: up 4.0% in FY27 so far. "Overall, a solid trading update, with Supercheap Auto strength driven by a promotional campaign," analyst Ben Gilbert says. "However, we do not expect this to continue as the run-rate in 1H27." Jarden says sportswear chain Rebel has benefited from the World Cup, but outdoor clothing and equipment maker Macpac remains affected by subdued demand and milder winter weather.
