Commercial buyers held a wait-and-see stance as US President Donald Trump said on July 23 that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States on September 24.\nHowever, Fastmarkets tracked close to 5 million tonnes of US soybeans on cargoes loading between September and November to state-owned buyers in China since the second week of July.\nSorghum imports remain strong\nSorghum imports rose to 1.11 million tonnes in July, up by 40,000 tonnes from 1.07 million tonnes in June and more than double the 500,000 tonnes imported a year earlier.\nThe sustained strength in sorghum arrivals reflects improved competitiveness of imported supplies and continued demand from the feed sector.\nCumulative sorghum imports for January-July reached 4.87 million tonnes, 2.24 million tonnes higher than the 2.63 million tonnes in the same period of 2025.\nCorn imports rebound sharply\nCorn and related product imports rose to 350,000 tonnes in July, up by 220,000 tonnes from 130,000 tonnes in June and by 290,000 tonnes from 60,000 tonnes a year earlier.\nThe increase marked a sharp rebound from the exceptionally low import levels seen during the second quarter.\nCumulative corn imports for January-July stood at 1.35 million tonnes, 500,000 tonnes higher compared with 850,000 tonnes in the same period of 2025.\nWheat imports fall further\nWheat and flour imports fell to 180,000 tonnes in July, down by 190,000 tonnes from 370,000 tonnes in June and down by 230,000 tonnes from 410,000 tonnes a year earlier.\nCumulative wheat and flour imports for January-July reached 3.26 million tonnes, 880,000 tonnes higher than the 2.38 million tonnes imported in the same period of 2025.\nBarley imports ease\nBarley imports declined to 980,000 tonnes in July, down by 490,000 tonnes from 1.47 million tonnes in June and by 170,000 tonnes from 810,000 tonnes a year earlier.\nDespite the July decline, cumulative barley imports for January-July reached 9.13 million tonnes, 3.15 million tonnes higher compared with 5.98 million tonnes in the same period of 2025.\nEdible oil imports recover\nTotal edible oil imports increased to 900,000 tonnes in July, up by 20,000 tonnes from June and by 120,000 tonnes from 780,000 tonnes a year earlier.\nPalm oil imports increased to 340,000 tonnes, up 160,000 tonnes from 180,000 tonnes both in June and a year earlier, while rapeseed and mustard oil imports fell to 80,000 tonnes, half of 160,000 tonnes in June and down by 50,000 tonnes from 130,000 tonnes a year earlier.\nNo soybean oil imports were recorded in July, compared with 10,000 tonnes in both June 2026 and July 2025.","kind":"highlight","is_publish_news":true,"is_publish_highlight":false,"is_publish_live":false,"is_publish_wemedia":false,"editions":null,"column":"","sentiment":"0","news_tag":"","news_rank":0,"isVideo":false,"video":null,"symbols":[],"gpt_button":0,"need_auth":false,"need_login_tip":false,"code":"91000000","status":"200"}}}
