美联储主席凯文·沃什在备受关注的讲话中强调，央行需要遏制物价上涨，缓解了市场对其抗击通胀可信度的部分担忧，推动短期美国国债收益率走高。
沃什在怀俄明州杰克逊霍尔年度研讨会上发表讲话期间，短期美债下跌、较长期美债上涨。两年期收益率上升5个基点至4.28%，30年期收益率下降1个基点至5.19%。这两项走势都反映出市场预期，美联储可能需要提高短期利率。
自沃什6月首次举行新闻发布会以来，债券交易员对其政策立场存有疑虑。当时他强调有必要压低通胀，整体语气偏鹰。自2021年全球经济走出疫情冲击以来，美国通胀一直高于美联储2%的目标。
但在美联储7月再次维持利率不变、沃什又拒绝明确暗示今年是否可能加息后，长期美债收益率大幅上升，因为交易员要求更高回报，以补偿通胀维持高位的风险。
沃什周五警告称，通胀并未出现实质性放缓，并表示政策制定者必须确信通胀正在下降，否则美联储“还有工作要做”。他同时重申，美联储将把通胀恢复到2%的目标水平，并称这一目标是坚定且固定的。
