黄金价格下跌，此前美联储主席凯文·沃什警告称，通胀并未显著放缓，除非决策者确信通胀正在放缓，否则美联储“还有工作要做”。
沃什重申，美联储将使通胀降回2%，并表示这是一个坚定不移的目标。他的言论推动美元走高，金价则一度下跌1.2%。
沃什还确认，“短期利率是实现双重使命的主要工具”。
他说：“旨在刺激经济活动的非常规政策可能适用于真正的危机，但除此之外，即便使用，也应十分谨慎。”

沃什的言论被视为偏鹰派，并使市场保持了加息预期，而较高的利率通常对不产生利息的黄金不利。
