据中国联通消息，8月26日，西藏日喀则市吉隆县吉隆口岸区域发生重大灾情。中国联通迅速投入应急通信服务保障，统筹推进卫星短信、客服热线、网络抢修等举措，全力保障受灾区域群众通信联络和应急服务响应。汛期灾害应急保障期间，中国联通免费为受灾区域客户开通免停机保障和北斗短信应急通信服务，可免费使用至2026年9月15日。截至8月28日6时，中国联通西藏分公司共出动应急抢修人员30人、应急车辆13辆、卫星电话5部、熔接机4台、光缆16千米、接头盒23个、便携式卫星应急设备3套、移动电源2套、游牧基站1台、基站配套设备2套、对讲机6部。
