一份财务申报文件显示，美国总统特朗普在6月23日购入了价值最高达5万美元的SpaceX股票，此时距离埃隆・马斯克旗下这家企业创下纪录的首次公开募股已经过去两周。
目前尚不清楚特朗普买入股票的具体成交价；不过彼时股价已经从200美元以上的高点回落。6月23日当天，SpaceX的股价在150美元中段区间成交。而在周一收盘时，该股收于135美元的发行价，这也就意味着总统这笔持仓很可能已经浮亏（跌破成本线）。
特朗普与马斯克二人私交甚笃；不过去年夏天双方曾短暂失和，当时马斯克指责特朗普扣押司法部有关杰弗里・爱泼斯坦案件的卷宗，原因是特朗普的名字频繁出现在卷宗之中。据报道，SpaceX拿下的政府合同数量不断攀升，并从特朗普政府放松监管的政策导向当中获益。
白宫发言人戴维斯・英格尔表示，总统的股票投资组合由第三方金融机构代为管理，持仓对标“嘉信1000”等主流指数。SpaceX在IPO之前就积极游说各大主流指数修改纳入规则，以求被指数更快收录；这也导致许多投资者可能在不知情的情况下，间接持有了该公司股份。
