Bank of Montreal (BMO) plans to buy back for cancellation up to 25 million of its common shares under a normal course issuer bid, the company said Tuesday.
The repurchase program, expected to begin around Sept. 8 and run until Sept. 7, 2027, represents about 3.6% of the company's public float.
BMO said the program will provide additional flexibility to manage its capital position, with the timing and amount of purchases determined by management based on factors including market conditions.
The company's current buyback program is valid until Sept. 4.
