据知情人士称，Meta Platforms Inc．与美国多个州的检察长已就一宗引发轰动的诉讼案进行庭审期间和解的可能性进行过讨论，该案指控Meta故意将Facebook和Instagram设计得让青少年用户易于沉迷。
案件审理目前已在加利福尼亚州奥克兰市的联邦法院进入第二周，对Meta构成巨大风险，来自29个州的高级司法官员代表公众寻求追究巨额罚款，并强制其改变平台运营方式。由于谈及敏感信息，知情人士要求匿名。
Meta的一位发言人暂未对此事发表评论。加利福尼亚州检察长办公室的一位代表拒绝置评。其他三个牵头提起诉讼的州——科罗拉多州、肯塔基州和新泽西州——的代表也未立即回应置评请求。
这些州指控该公司违反了州消费者保护法和联邦隐私法，法律中规定的罚款若乘上数以百万计的年轻Instagram和Facebook用户数，罚金会急速膨胀。
Meta否认了这些州的指控，并指责各州检察长要求进行不合理的设计变更和“过分的赔偿”。
据Meta自己测算，如果败诉，可能面临至多1.4万亿美元罚款，这一数额接近其市值，在法律史上前所未闻。如果达成和解，那么金额很可能远低于此。
