8月31日，国际原油期货日内涨幅扩大，WTI原油期货价格盘中一度涨4%，布伦特原油期货价格盘中一度涨逾3.8%。消息面上，美军30日打击了位于霍尔木兹海峡附近伊朗拉腊克岛上的两个火箭发射装置。此次行动是美军一个月来首次对伊朗目标实施军事打击。伊朗伊斯兰革命卫队随后发表声明称，为回应美国和以色列敌人对伊朗拉腊克岛的侵略，伊朗伊斯兰革命卫队航空航天部队发射导弹和无人机，摧毁了位于约旦境内的两处美军空军基地中的技术和维护基础设施，并对敌方的战斗机阵地造成严重破坏。
摩根士丹利周一发布报告，显著上调短期油价预估，将今年第四季度布伦特原油目标价从此前的每桶75美元大幅上调至100美元，WTI原油则从76美元上调至96美元。
