在劳动节假期前的一周，由于许多基金经理还没结束夏季休假，市场流动性可能较为薄弱。在美联储主席凯文·沃什于杰克逊霍尔发表的讲话震惊美国国债市场后，周五的美国就业报告也显得尤为重要。除非全球股市情绪迅速好转，否则标普500期货合约可能很快会重新测试上周的低点，该低点正逐渐成为决定短期走势的关键转折点。若在现货股票市场开盘前跌破该水平，抛售势头可能会加速。
季节性因素难以带来安慰。过去十年间，9月平均而言是标普500指数期货表现最差的月份。持仓情况可能加剧下行压力，尽管期货价格两周前已创下8月高点，但未平仓合约量仍接近近期高位。由于伦敦市场因当地假期休市，无法填补市场空白，美国交易员可能也会更加密切关注来自亚洲的负面信号。
