China discovered a copper-gold deposit in Anhui Province's Xuancheng City, with a main ore body spanning 1.2 kilometers by 1.1 kilometers, with drilling intersecting up to 1,371 meters of mineralization, state media Xinhua News reported Tuesday.
Preliminary assessments of the Chating copper-gold deposit indicate copper resources could exceed several large mines combined, while gold equivalents may top 10 large-scale deposits. Drilling has yet to reach deeper sections, leaving estimates likely to increase.
Tibet Yulong Copper acquired the deposit's exploration rights for 8.6 billion yuan in October 2025 and has since completed nearly 100,000 meters of drilling.
