印度央行的美元净空头头寸规模7月跃升至创纪录的1368亿美元，反映该行为吸引外资而采取的种种措施，包括针对海外印度人的特殊存款计划，导致未来债务负担日益加重。
根据印度央行数据进行的计算显示，该行的美元净空头头寸增加了335亿美元，主要原因是到期时间超过一年的合约量增加。数据显示，这部分空头头寸从642亿美元增至915亿美元。
最新数据显示，印度央行通过各项外汇计划调集了728亿美元。虽然这些资金流入增加了外汇储备，但当这些三至五年期存款到期时，央行必须偿还这些美元，进而增加未来的美元偿付负担。
“鉴于持续的干预需求，即期外汇储备的增加并不与远期头寸的扩大匹配，庞大的远期合约仍将是一个时不时令人担忧的问题，尤其是在全球压力因素恶化时，”澳新银行驻孟买的外汇策略师Dhiraj Nim指出。
资金流入推动印度外汇储备达到创纪录的7293亿美元，使当局在支撑卢比时有了更强的火力。交易员表示，在央行干预下，卢比周二升至两个月高位，表现优于其他亚洲货币。
