路透9月1日 - 亚马逊旗下的Zoox和Alphabet旗下的Waymo 周二分别宣布 ，将各自的无人驾驶网约车业务扩展至美国的新城市，此前几周，Zoox刚刚启动了付费服务。
Zoox表示将开始在休斯顿和圣地亚哥进行测试，使其业务覆盖范围扩大至美国12个城市。该公司将首先使用改装的测试车辆进行人工测绘和测试，随后再部署其专为无人驾驶设计的机器人出租车。
其商业服务的推出加剧了与Waymo和特斯拉之间的竞争，各家公司正竞相在美国扩大自动驾驶网约车的规模。
与此同时，Waymo表示将开始在丹佛、圣地亚哥和坦帕接载首批公众乘客，使其完全自动驾驶出行服务覆盖范围扩大至14个城市。该公司表示将逐步向这三个城市的乘客开放服务。
作为测试计划的一部分，Zoox此前 已在拉斯维加斯、旧金山、奥斯汀和迈阿密提供免费载客服务，直至8月在拉斯维加斯开始提供付费乘车服务。
Waymo目前已在美国多个城市运营付费无人驾驶服务，并正在向海外拓展 (link)。该公司上月表示，将在2027年底前于德国开展商业运营 之前，先在慕尼黑 开始测试。
