Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) voted to maintain its benchmark Overnight Policy Rate at 2.75% at the conclusion of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Thursday.

The decision, which matched the consensus forecast tracked by Investing.com, keeps borrowing costs at their current level.

The MPC said the latest indicators point toward resilient global growth amid strong tech expansion, enhanced supply conditions, and stable labor markets.

On the inflation front, BNM noted that headline and core inflation in the first seven months of the year averaged 1.8% and 2%, respectively.

The central bank said Malaysia's economy grew by 5.7% in the first half, with the solid growth momentum expected to bring 2026 growth to around 5%.
