Top cryptocurrencies fell Thursday, with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) dropping below the $78,000 level.
The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks dozens of digital assets including Bitcoin, fell 2.3% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 1%, the S&P 500 fell 0.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.7%.
Bitcoin fell 1.5% to $77,152, according to CoinMarketCap data. The most popular cryptocurrency's 24-hour trading volume grew 9.5% to $31 billion.
Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest digital asset by market value, eased 0.2% to $2,466.
XRP (XRP-USD) decreased 3.8%, BNB (BNB-USD) fell 3.2%, and Solana (SOL-USD) shed 2.9%. Dogecoin (DOGE-USD) declined 4.4%, and Cardano (ADA-USD) lost 3%.
The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry fell 1.5% in the past 24 hours to $2.63 trillion, with trading volume rising 10.7% to $89.66 billion.
