Sector Update: Financial Stocks Edge Higher Pre-Bell Thursday

Financial stocks were edging higher pre-bell Thursday, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) advancing by 0.1%.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was down 0.3% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 0.1% lower.

HSBC Holdings (HSBC) said Pam Kaur plans to step down as chief financial officer and executive director next year. Shares of HSBC Holdings were down more than 1% premarket.

UBS (UBS) plans to cease its fund sales unit in China at the end of September, the company told Reuters in a statement. UBS stock was down more than 1% pre-bell.

Mastercard (MA) has launched Mastercard Wallet Pay, a portfolio of payment tools meant to improve interoperability for digital wallets in contactless, QR code, and online payments. Mastercard shares were 0.4% higher premarket.
