The Dow industrials and Nasdaq opened lower, now are paring losses. Bond yields are on a historic run, briefly touching 5% today, while AI execs suggest a slowdown after dire warnings about their tech.

Here's what is moving markets today:

10-year yields touch 5%: A deepening selloff in U.S. government bonds briefly pushed the yield on the 10-year Treasury note to 5% for the second time since 2007. Rising yields, which come as bond prices fall, threaten to push borrowing costs higher across the economy.

The 10% chance AI ends everything: Leaders of four of the biggest AI companies agreed that they needed to slow development of the technology over the weekend. Anthropic's Dario Amodei voiced support for a slowdown after one of his employees said there was a greater than 10% chance its AI systems could destroy civilization. Even a feuding Sam Altman and Elon Musk got on the same page.

Crude and diesel climb on: Brent crude, the international benchmark for oil prices, approached $110 a barrel after attacks shut down a key pipeline in Saudi Arabia. Also, diesel keeps breaking records.
