9月13日晚，总台《财经调查》栏目曝光了个别地区农村治污乱象。江苏、山西等地部分村庄的污水治理工程存在设备空转、污水倒灌、数百万元治污工程闲置等问题，本是造福村民的工程，反倒给村民生活带来了困扰。

节目播出后，9月13日深夜，徐州市铜山区人民政府发布情况通报称，省市高度重视。第一时间督促指导铜山区成立由生态环境、水务、农业农村等部门组成的联合调查组，迅速开展调查和整改整治工作。

13日晚，工作人员已抵达相关现场，开展调查和整改整治工作。后续，徐州市铜山区联合调查组将依据调查结果处置，接受社会监督。
